This is our second time for LEAP and we choose the cleaning workers as our targets. Normally, we don't pay too much attention to this group of people, even sometimes think that their job is somehow inferior. However, through this service, I understand more about their work. Actually, they are really nice and polite. When I gave the apples and thank you cards to them, they showed unbelievable faces and continued to thank me. I realized that they may rarely receive this kind of surprises in their daily life. This also meant that it was properly that just few people concerned about their needs. Then I chatted more with them. They told me that they had to clean our faculty every day. It was better to work in winter than in summer, because in summer it would be so hot to do the cleaning. They didn't tell too much about their work and they said that they felt grateful to work in a university.
Through the service, although I just had a very short conversation with the cleaning workers and know a few things about them, I became their friends in their working environment! I recognized that sometimes the "face to face" communication and a few warm words are far better than a present brought by money.
I am looking forward to our friendship and another LEAP time! :)
